How No Annual Fee Credit Cards Work
Rewards systems and incentives were created because of the tight competition among credit card companies. Credit card companies use these reward systems and incentives to persuade people to choose a particular card over another card. These companies often lower or eliminate fees and offer no annual fee credit cards to attract costumers.

You usually have to pay an annual fee to credit ca... Read credit cards article

Barclays entices students into debt
BARCLAYCARD, Britain's biggest credit-card firm, has angered anti-debt campaigners by doubling the amount of credit available to students taking out its new card, writes Jessica Bown.

Launched to coincide with the beginning of the university year, the Student Barclaycard will allow first years to borrow up to ?600 straight away - up from a typical limit of ?300 in the past.

Hotel Credit Cards
If you're a regular hotel visitor, did you know you could get a credit card that can get you free stays and more in your favorite hotel chain?

Hotel credit cards work just like any other credit card, but every time you use them you collect reward points. These can be exchanged for free stays, room upgrades, gourmet meals, merchandise, discounts, and other benefits. You accrue most points when you use the cards in the hotel chain concerned, but you normally get points for spending in other outlets as well.

There are various cards available, and your choice may depend on the chain (or chains) you stay at most often. There are dedicated Starwood? and Hilton? hotel credit cards, operated by American Express, or you might prefer to go for the generic TripRewards? card. This offers rewards including free stays at AmeriHost Inn?, Days Inn?, Howard Johnson?, Knights Inn?, Ramada?, Super 8?, Travelodge? (US hotels only), Wingate Inn?, and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts?.

A typical example is the Starwood Preferred Guest? credit card. With your first purchase on this card you earn 10,000 Starpoints, which is enough for up to three free nights at a Starwood? hotel. You can use your Starpoints for free nights and upgrades at over 825 participating Starwood? hotels and resorts in 95 countries. You can also transfer Starpoints - normally on a 1:1 basis - to the frequent flyer programs of over 30 major airlines. You earn one Starpoint for every dollar of eligible spending, and double Starpoints at participating Starwood? properties and retail outlets. The first year is fee-free, and you only pay $30 a year thereafter.

Of course, before applying for any credit card, you should study the terms and conditions carefully and ensure it is suitable for your needs. Reward cards are great for people who pay off their entire balance every month. If you will not be doing this, however, it is more important to look for a card with a low APR. Otherwise there is a risk that the value of any rewards you receive will be outweighed by the extra interest you are paying.

Naturally, I do not recommend that you spend more than you normally would on your credit card just to get your hands on the rewards. If you're a regular hotel visitor, however, you may as well put your normal spending on your hotel credit card, to enjoy free stays, upgrades and so on in the hotel chain of your choice.

As with all credit cards, though, it is important to shop around and not simply apply for the first card you see. Different cards offer different combinations of terms and incentives, and the best card for one person may not be the same as for another. Independent credit card comparison sites make this easier for you by listing all the best current credit card offers, and also have a range of articles offering impartial advice and information.

Credit Card Online - Instant Approval

When you see advertising for instant credit card approvals online does that really imply that it's immediate? Will you really get a shiny new credit card with a nice spending limit instantly? Unfortunately this is not the case. Most companies will "confirm" your application for a new credit card instantly but then normal background checks will occur like checking your credit score, job situation, income level, current debt load and other hoops to jump through. Like the old saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Whether the advertising for instant approval credit cards is deceptive is up for debate or at the very least subjective. After you apply on a credit card web site you will get a message that they have received your application for review. Next you will get a call from them where they will try to determine if you are a decent credit risk. This is where you should be cautious. If you are a borderline credit risk, you will pay for this in the percentages they charge and annual fees. Credit card companies are in the business of making money and lots of it. They make most of their money off the medium credit risks who maintain a decent credit score and will be most unlikely to declare bankruptcy in the event of a default.

If you are accepted for an instant approval credit card online know that in most cases the interest you will be paying is up to 21%. You have to look really close as to the actual cost of "borrowing" this money. Credit card companies also can change the interest rate they charge you at any time based on your repayment behavior, most people do not know this! Also, you will see the low introductory rates and or they will offer you a consolidation, one easy payment. Be careful because these initial rates will go up after a 30 to 90 day period and up to what interest rate is up to you to check out before you sign up. These offers should really say, "we want your debt and we will give you a break on the interest rate for a few months".

The only case I have seen where a credit card is issued instantly is when the consumer has no debt, no other credit cards, a great steady income, money in the bank and a credit score over 750. Basically the people that do not need credit cards can get them easily. I have one credit card that I use for business but I pay it off in full each month. You know what they do, they keep raising my credit limit by 1,000 each month enticing me to go into debt, good luck I say.
